One of the New World Wonders, Petra is an ancient city beautifully carved from the side of Mount Hor in Jordan. Every time I look at the hand and footholds in the rock and think of the tools the people used to carve the city with, I am absolutely blown away by the detail and perfection in the carvings.

Another New World Wonder, Machu Picchu is an Incan “ghost village” on the top of a mountain ridge in Peru. I don’t know how anyone can look at it and not be awestruck. Too bad fortifications don’t stop smallpox.
