Happy New Year, everyone! Hope the end to the holiday season was just as fun as the beginning. Like most of you, I’m getting back into my routine, and I wanted to give you guys an idea of what to expect.
First, I’d like to announce that I’m around 50% of the way through writing the first draft of the next book. This is going to be a bit of a departure, as it’s a near-future sci-fi thriller in a new shared-world series.
Now, before you Rev fans get out the torches and pitchforks, I want you to know that I am not finished with Rev by a long shot. I plan to write at least one, probably two, and maybe as many as three more Rev books this year, so you can look forward to that. However, this sci-fi book has been incubating in my mind all year, and like a xenomorph from Alien, it’s just dying (killing?) to be birthed.
Science fiction is near and dear to my heart, as I read much more of it than any other genre, and I love a good techno-thriller (Cricton was probably my favorite author back in the 90’s). So, this new book is something I’ve very excited to bring into the world, and I hope at least some of you will give it a chance in between Rev novels.
Back to Rev and co., I’m at a place in his story where I also need to step back and really plot out the long-term character arcs. I know what I want to happen in my mind, but I have so many subplots, what with Burke and the Jar and all the chaos both have wreaked, that I really need to work out the timelines and make sure everything proceeds at the right pace. So, I’m also going to take this break from writing Rev to make sure I have the long-term plan straight before plotting out the next book.
